Who Is Lorrene?

Hi! I’m Lorrene, a salon owner and stylist with a passion for my journey to sustained beauty.

Welcome to Your Organic Beauty Solutions! When I began my Journey To Sustainability I was so encouraged by the enormous positive impact I was able to make with even small actions that I decided to share some of my experiences and invite others in my industry to join me.

This blog is just the beginning of my journey and I hope that you will also be inspired to share your experiences and maybe even take some steps toward sustainability as well.

Join me on my Journey to Sustainability. As a Midwesterner. in general, we are far behind the rest of the world in the quest to be sustainable. Just as the recession was starting, I was analyzing my customer base. As a full believer in Marketing, I was measuring the number of new clients vs. retained clients in my business. I was at a loss to cause and effect with our customer base. I hired a consultant which personally called clients to measure how we were doing. Most of our feedback was that the economy was affecting their lives. We got high marks for customer service and quality, so I put my investigating skills into action.

After years of running on what has always worked, customer service and quality, what is happening in the economy is bigger than that. I was sensing times were changing for us all. I listened to what customers were asking for as well as compairing us to the market place. Did I really want to be just another peg in the row of salons? I established my business to stand out from the rest. Being a leader in finding what the market is calling for, I started researching the direction our industry was taking.

Many of my guests are more concerned with products that truely perform vs. what is natural or organic. I believe in science and nature. Companies have got to be creating products that answer our call, don’t they?

I am sure there are products that are companies that are sustainable in our industry, aren’t there?

At the America’s Beauty show, I attended the symposium to see what direction the industry was headed. Horst gave a fabulous presentation, mapping out how he grows his own herbs and other matter and produced his own goods. Knowing I was not able to take on a venture like that, what companies are sustainable and have the high quality our guests are demanding?

Is your company Zero Impact? Is your business fully sustainable? My journey is to take our industry from business as usual into an industry moving to the future. This journey isn’t about changing your business in a day or week, but in creating a living changing goal toward sustainability.
